Uyaji Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 29, 2026
By My Side Labs ("the operator") runs Uyaji, an AI service for daily life in Ulsan (web uyaji.bymysidelabs.com/agent, Android app, iPhone app). There is no sign-up, and Uyaji is not an official service of Ulsan City or its district and county offices.
At a glance
- Kept on the server: life facts you state yourself and your recent questions (90 days), conversation records if you agree to help improve answers (7 days), reports (90 days), and notification settings (until you turn them off). Same-conversation memory lasts 1 hour, and the temporary answer copy 10 minutes.
- Kept only on your phone: settings, favorites, saved answers, past conversations, and your last location. The operator cannot see them.
- Where your questions go: Anthropic's AI (Claude) in the United States, which writes the answers, and web searches for official information (Naver, Kakao, Google, DuckDuckGo).
- Where your location goes: only if you allow location, coordinates go to maps and directions (Kakao, Kakao Mobility, TMAP, Naver), fuel prices (Opinet), and housing listings (Dabang). The server does not store coordinates linked to you.
- 3 permissions: location, microphone, and notifications. All are optional and can be turned off at any time, and you can use Uyaji even if you refuse them.
- How to delete: type "내 정보 지워 줘" (Korean for "delete my info") to Uyaji, and your life facts are deleted at once; recent questions are deleted automatically after 90 days. Delete what is on your phone with "Clear Uyaji chat memory" in the menu.

1. What we keep, why, and for how long
1-1. Asking questions and getting answers (required)
- What is sent: your question (up to 500 characters per message), earlier questions and answers in the same conversation, the time, the screen language, and whether you agreed to help improve answers.
- Same-conversation memory: facts confirmed in one conversation (the first 200 characters of answers, routes, bus arrivals, source names) are kept for 1 hour.
- Temporary answer copy: so you still get the answer if the connection drops, it is kept for 10 minutes under a random request number.
- Legal basis: processing needed to give you the answer you asked for (Personal Information Protection Act, Article 15(1)(4)). Please do not write sensitive details such as names, phone numbers, or health conditions in questions.
1-2. Remembering you (90 days)
Uyaji remembers facts you state yourself in questions and uses them in later answers. For example, if you say "I am going with my 6-year-old," it will not ask your child's age again. Guesses are not stored.
- Life facts: whether you have children and their age, pets, whether you have a car, the neighborhood (dong) you live in, pregnancy, and whether you live with an older family member.
- Recent questions: the opening part of your latest 20 questions (question 80 characters, answer 160 characters) with the date. When you ask something similar, the earlier answer is used to continue.
- The storage name is an irreversible value (hash) made from your browser information and IP address, so the IP itself is not kept. This works whether or not you agreed to help improve answers.
- Retention: 90 days from the last save. Asking to delete your info removes life facts at once, but recent questions are deleted only after 90 days (section 5). Legal basis: processing to give you answers better suited to your requests (Article 15(1)(4)).
1-3. Service improvement records (optional, 7 days)
- If you choose "Yes": your question, the 4 previous turns, district and dong names, the answer, source addresses, tools and search terms the AI used, and errors are kept for 7 days. Coordinates are not kept, but a directions link may contain your starting coordinates.
- If you choose "No": only processing time, answer type, tool names, and errors are kept for 7 days, without the original question or answer.
- You can change this at any time in the first-run guide or with "Help improve answers" in the menu. Legal basis: "Yes" is consent (Article 15(1)(1)); the minimal "No" record is for fixing errors (Article 15(1)(6)).
1-4. Notifications (optional)
- Tasks you hand over: bus arrival alerts (stop, route, how many stops ahead) are watched for up to 2 hours and deleted within 24 hours after they end. Garbage-day alerts (district name) are kept until you turn them off.
- News notifications: your choices (information and updates, benefits and ads), the time you consented to ads, and device type are kept until you turn them off.
- Connection data: on the web, the browser notification address and encryption keys; in the apps, the notification token (Firebase Cloud Messaging), install ID, and screen language. Deleted at the next send after you turn notifications off or uninstall the app.
- Benefit and ad notifications are sent only with separate consent and carry "(Ad)" in the title. From 9 p.m. to 8 a.m., they are sent only if you also agreed to night notifications (Network Act, Article 50).
1-5. Reports and inquiries (optional)
- "Report this answer" reports: report text (up to 2,000 characters), the question and answer at that time, the screen you were on, browser information, and contact details if you want a reply. Kept for 90 days; the copy sent to the operator's mail (Gmail) is deleted within 90 days after handling.
- Emails written with "Contact" are prefilled with your install ID and app version, which you can delete before sending.
1-6. Information created automatically
- IP address: kept in memory for about 1 minute to block more than 30 questions in 1 minute, and the report count (up to 5 per hour) is kept for 1 hour.
- Per-version counts: only daily request counts by device type, app build number, and screen version, kept for 400 days. They contain nothing that identifies you.
- Web visit statistics (Google Analytics, web app and homepage only): a cookie (_ga), the page address you viewed, where you came from, approximate region, device and browser information, and time spent. If you arrive through an Uyaji link that carries a question or coordinates, that address goes to Google as is. Kept for 2 months; nothing is sent if you block cookies.
- App usage statistics (Firebase Analytics, Android and iPhone apps): a random app ID, device model, OS and app version, language, approximate region, and how often the app is opened. Kept for 2 months.
- App crash records (Firebase Crashlytics, Android app only): the code location of the crash, device model, OS and app version, and memory state. Kept for 90 days.
- App statistics and crash records do not include your questions or coordinates, and the apps do not use advertising IDs. Legal basis: service improvement and stable operation (Article 15(1)(6)).
2. Permissions (all optional)
- Location: finds nearby stops, pharmacies, hospitals, and gas stations, and calculates routes. If you refuse, pick your neighborhood and Uyaji searches from its center point.
- Microphone and speech recognition: used only when you tap "Ask by voice". Your phone's or browser's speech recognition (Google, Apple) turns speech into text, and the Uyaji server does not receive your voice. If you refuse, just type.
- Notifications: used only to send tasks you handed over or news you chose. Even if you refuse, you can read news in "Inbox" in the menu.
3. Kept only on your phone
The following stays only in your device's storage (localStorage, IndexedDB), not on the server. The operator can neither see it nor delete it for you.
- Settings: first-run guide, improvement consent, location use, chosen neighborhood, theme and text size, language, notification choices and read marks.
- Location: last location (about 100 m precision, discarded after 12 hours), the center point of your chosen neighborhood, and a copy of the home screen kept to show it quickly (15 minutes).
- Install ID for inquiries (a random value): sent to the server when loading the inbox but not stored then; stored together with the connection data when you turn on app notifications (1-4).
- Records: favorites, saved answers, past conversations (latest 60), ongoing directions (3 hours), and an answer count that decides when to ask for a rating.
- How to delete: "Clear Uyaji chat memory" in the menu, clearing site data in your browser, or uninstalling the app.
4. Who receives information
Uyaji does not sell personal information or hand it to other companies for their own purposes. Below are the services we entrust processing to, or look up information from, to run Uyaji's features.
4-1. In Korea
- Kakao: finding district and dong from coordinates, place and address search, web search, public transit directions, map display. Receives: coordinates, search terms, destination.
- Kakao Mobility: car and taxi route calculation. Receives: starting and destination coordinates.
- TMAP (SK open API): walking route calculation. Receives: starting and destination coordinates.
- Naver: reading restaurant, cafe, and lodging information, and web search. Receives: search terms, coordinates.
- Dabang, Daangn Real Estate: only when you ask about housing listings. Receives: coordinates (Dabang), district and dong names (Daangn).
- Korea National Oil Corporation (Opinet): gas station prices. Receives: coordinates grouped into units of about 300 m.
- Public agency data (Ulsan bus information, Korea Meteorological Administration, KOPIS, and others): weather, buses, hospitals, performances. They receive only a weather grid of about 5 km and stop numbers.
4-2. Transfers abroad
The companies below are located abroad. Because this is outsourced processing and storage needed for the service, we disclose it in this policy and transfer on that basis (Personal Information Protection Act, Article 28-8(1)(3)). Data is sent over an encrypted connection (HTTPS) each time you use the service.
- Anthropic, PBC (United States, privacy@anthropic.com): your question, earlier conversation, district and dong, remembered facts and related past questions, and tool results. Used to write answers and search official sites. Under Anthropic's policy, deleted within 30 days and not used for training by default.
- Cloudflare, Inc. (United States, privacyquestions@cloudflare.com): the Uyaji server and storage, a browser that opens and reads official pages (Browser Run), and sending report emails. Processes the server items in section 1, IP addresses, and coordinates when opening the housing map. Retention: the periods in section 1.
- Google LLC (United States, policies.google.com/privacy): web visit statistics (Google Analytics, 2 months), app statistics and crash records (Firebase, 2 months and 90 days), app notifications (Firebase Cloud Messaging, until turned off), operator mail (Gmail, 90 days after handling), and search terms taken from questions (per Google's policy).
- Duck Duck Go, Inc. (United States, duckduckgo.com/privacy): searching for official information. Receives: search terms taken from questions. Retention: that company's policy.
- Notification servers (Apple, Mozilla, or Microsoft, whichever your device uses; United States and elsewhere): notification address and encrypted notification content. Retention: each company's policy.
- Answers can only be written when questions reach the AI, so if you do not want the transfer abroad, you cannot use the question feature. Notifications and reports are not sent if you do not use them, and web statistics are not sent if you block cookies.
5. Your rights and deletion
- You can ask at any time to see, correct, or delete your information, or to stop its processing (Personal Information Protection Act, Articles 35 to 37). A legal representative or an authorized person can also ask.
- Delete right away: type "내 정보 지워 줘" (Korean for "delete my info") to Uyaji, and the life facts in 1-2 are deleted at once. Recent-question memory is stored under a value that cannot identify you, so even the operator cannot find whose it is, which means we cannot delete it earlier by email; it is deleted automatically 90 days after your last question.
- Request by email: mark@bymysidelabs.com. Since there are no accounts, please include your install ID and the date and time of your questions. We handle requests within 7 days and reply.
- Details are in the data deletion guide. Expired information is deleted automatically so that it cannot be recovered, and no information is kept separately under other laws.
6. Children under 14
Uyaji does not ask your age and is not aimed at children under 14. If you are under 14, please do not turn on location; pick your neighborhood yourself.
7. Safety measures and AI answers
- Server storage and the log screen can be opened only by the operator with a secret token, and secrets such as API keys stay on the server.
- All traffic is encrypted with HTTPS, and storage names are irreversible values (hashes).
- Answers are written by AI, but Uyaji makes no decisions that affect your rights, such as approving applications or judging eligibility.
8. Privacy contact and where to get help
- Privacy protection and complaints: By My Side Labs, mark@bymysidelabs.com
- Personal Information Infringement Report Center 118 (privacy.kisa.or.kr), Personal Information Dispute Mediation Committee 1833-6972 (www.kopico.go.kr), Korean National Police Agency 182 (ecrm.police.go.kr).
9. Changes
- Version of October 29, 2026: added Remembering you (1-2), web visit statistics (1-6), recipients, the temporary answer copy and the new address to match how the service actually works.
- Version of 10/25/2026: separated crash records as Android app only, and corrected when the install ID is sent to the server.
- Version of 10/23/2026: added the new address (/privacy), app notifications, Firebase, and per-version counts.
- Future changes will be announced on Uyaji's first screen and in the menu 7 days before they take effect.
